MY FOOD STORY

My cooking career in NYC began while I was a nanny from 1996-1998.  I cooked extensively for this family and was exposed to the needs of many mothers through birthday parties and play dates.  One of the these mothers was Sara Moulton, the Executive Chef at Gourmet Magazine!  She helped me create my personal chef business and I began to cook for other families.  I was lucky enough to meet a pair of friends who were brand new Moms in 1999.  These 2 amazing ladies are the cornerstone of what I offer today.  I have been blessed all these years by their referrals and loyalty.  Because of them, my specialty is weekly drop-offs for families and new parents.  I have expanded into special events, cocktail parties, and corporate functions as well as in-home dinners.  I am also proud to say that since 2000, I have assisted Steve Martin's chef, Andy Olson, whenever he needs an extra set of hands in their NY kitchen.

WEEKLY DROP-OFFS

Basically, I cook healthy food with big flavors.  Generally, I grill or steam with olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper.  Next, I will add a more complicated layering of flavors - a vinaigrette, a chutney, salsa, or a glaze. Most all of my soups are a base of vegetable broth, tailoring as needed to chicken or beef.  I rarely use a cream unless I am thickening with coconut milk or greek yogurt.  I add a variety of dried fruits, nuts, and cheeses to my salads. I'm a big fan of vinegars, mustards, fresh herbs, and garlic.  Most everything I deliver will be fully cooked and you will just need to reheat or assemble and toss.  Almost all of my soups and stews can be frozen for later use.

A drop off typically will include 3 main dishes, 3 accompanying salads, 2 sides, and a soup.  These 9 items you can divide up however you would like as lunches, dinners, or compliments to things you have prepared or bought yourself.  Or, we can find the perfect set of items to suit your needs.

I shop with a focus on the best ingredients from the best New York has to offer.  The standards being Whole foods, Barzini's, and  Food Cellar.   I also draw upon farmer's markets, neighborhood markets, and specialty item stores all over the city.

We agree on a price per hour for a 6 hour minimum.  That includes time for shopping, preparation, clean-up, and delivery to your home.  We set up a shopping budget for the cost of food.  I will email the total of the food cost the night before or morning of delivery and then bring you the receipts when I deliver your meals.  You reimburse me for that cost of the food.   I find it is easiest if you write one combined check for the food reimbursement and the labor.

I have an ABOUT YOU form for you to fill out so we can get started with a plan that is just right for you.  You can click on my MENU PAGES to make your weekly selections.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
